In September, St. Paul's began the defence of the titles they won in 2005 and 2006.The opening game was a match against the previous year's runners-up, Abbeyleix. St Paul's went down 8-7 to 6-1. The second game saw the school make the trip to Graigcullen and come away with a victory on a 2-7 to 1-4 scoreline. In the third group game Killenard were the visitors but St. Paul's had the upper hand and won 5-5 to 4-4. The fourth game was always going to be a difficult one as it was an away game against table toppers Killeshin. Killeshin had a flying start but St. Paul's fought back strongly and by the end Killeshin were relieved to hold on for a 5-6 to 5-2 victory. St. Paul's now needed an away win against Ballyfin to secure a semi-final spot and this they did with their best performance of the league. A great 6-8 to 1-8 win was recorded. The semi-final was a re-match against Abbeyleix in which St. Paul's showed a huge improvement since their earlier match. Abbeyleix had to defend desperately in the closing stages of the game and were lucky to hold on to their 3-7 to 3-5 lead by the time the final whistle sounded.
